Globalized Unit on Exponential Functions
The following unit plan incorporates global education competencies for an Algebra I Mathematics classroom. Students extend their knowledge on population growth (see TEACH - Unit Plans - Linear) and it's negative correlation with food production. Students also begin looking at data on climate change.
Students should approach the topic of population growth while exploring the India Travel Blog. India is forecasted to be the World's most populous country by 2028. India is a country that already has limited resources, crumbling infrastructure, and diminishing food availability (see STUDY-Additional Resources - Articles & Ted Talks). By corresponding with students in India (as well as other countries) students have the opportunity of exploring this relevant real life connection with students from around the world. |
